Thomas G. West
Thomas G. West is an author known for his work on visual thinking and the strengths of dyslexic individuals. His first book, In the Mind’s Eye: Creative Visual Thinkers, Gifted Dyslexics and the Rise of Visual Technologies, was originally published in 1991 and released in a third edition in 2020. The book has been translated into multiple languages and was recognized by the American Library Association as one of the “best of the best” in its category.
West has written two additional books, Thinking Like Einstein and Seeing What Others Cannot See, exploring the role of visual thinking in science, technology, and innovation. He has delivered presentations and workshops for organizations including NASA Ames Research Center, MIT, Harvard University, Oxford University, and the Max Planck Institutes. His dyslexia was formally identified at age 41 after earlier academic challenges, shaping his lifelong interest in how differently wired minds contribute to discovery and progress.
