Origionally aired: September 28: Starring the Simons
It was like a musical comedy … Starring the Simons. That’s how legendary singer/songwriter Carly Simon describes life growing up with her sisters and her mother. But there was a reason why they communicated in song: Carly was dyslexic, and had trouble speaking. Music made the words flow easier.
It works the same now in her own family: her two children and a grandson, all dyslexic. Tonight Heather Unruh takes us to Martha’s Vineayard to learn more about this family story, and she discovers a pilot program on the island that takes a new approach to maximize learning for dyslexic children. https://youtu.be/bdcx7jRB4Ns
